Any house project means more time and effort and supplies than originally planned for.

indeed they do..we've just spent a whole day sorting out the garden pots and clearing one corner ready for a potting/young plant shelter made from scrap wood and polythene, and the bench and shelves from old pallets.
Plus watering...we haven't had any decent rainfall all month..
