Sermon

Response to a sermon, four letters. Took me a while to figure out the answer was not YAWN. Which made the most sense to me.

Sent for The Juniper Tree and Other Tales from Grimm, illustrated by Maurice Sendak, arrived today. Reading a couple, but such tales are not meant to make a meal of. They are concentrated little pills, poems in horror, not to be taken lightly.

Anxiety very high this afternoon, for various reasons. The urge to hide is strong, and I want it all to just go away. All I can do to stay active and functional. That I still can, however much effort, means I'll be ok. Just doesn't feel like it right now.

Moby sat on me several times, even when Eleanor came up to sniff noses, he stayed cool and stayed on me. She did not bop him on the head, which is also an improvement.

Farmgal generously stopped by, going far out of her way on another errand, to bring eggs last evening. She says my garden is very peaceful and zen. From her, this is especially treasured praise.

Late evening sun pouring gold through the windows.

Working four days in a row, which at ten hours per can be exhausting. But with a slack schedule, so the first two days were short, the next two may be as well. Planning ahead with lunches helps.

Ate eggs for dinner, then made a small batch of crepes with strawberry preserves for dessert. Just realized I'd forgotten the salt, but neither of us missed it.

mmm crepes. Response to sermon: pray?

I have a four day work week as Monday was off. Not one of these days is slack, though I do have this minute to comment on your blog.

My raised bed gardens are a disaster, I simply haven't found the time to deweed them and now they are flush with weeds.

Response to sermon: Amen.

Works for anxiety too. So be it...

I was happy with a crossword answer today. The clue was "Dance with Spooner's beer glass". The answer is "jitterbug". I know you like beer, and language oddities, so I thought you might like it too!

gentle,
You are correct, that's what they were looking for. I wish I knew how to approach that kind of crossword clue, it feels right, but I can't decipher why.

Phil,
That is another plausible one. Sorry about your weeds, can you burn them off, or treat it with acetic acid?

Fresca,
Damn ptsd. Damn horrible manager lying her fool ass off. Crepes are a comfort.

The explanation for 'jitterbug' is to see it as two words - jitter bug - and read it as a spoonerism - bitter jug. Bitter is a type of beer, and a jug is a type of beer glass or tankard. And there you have it, a satisfying answer. My mother and I enjoyed doing crosswords together. Not all the answers are satisfying - sometimes they are just too contrived!

Garden as created peace, a wonderful idea.
Just saw a sign downtown for crepes and fries. But those two don't go together for me.
Hope you can get through and get beyond this chapter quickly.

Hope this passes, with crepes and crosswords to distract.

can i tell you a secret? about crepes?

in my childhood i used to be adept at flipping them one handed, which i did many mornings.

one morning i had too much oil in the pan. there is still an oil stain on the ceiling at my mom's house. to this day she still does not know why it is there.

shhhh, don't tell nobody, ok?

flask,
Your secret is safe with me. I'm sure the folks who read here will never tell either.

I'm impressed at the flipping. With an iron skillet, and my poor thumbs, I barely manage to get them out. They are still lovely, though.
