As we waited behind a pick-up at a red light, we noticed an elderly man, with all his clothing on his back and possessions, apparently, in his shopping cart, crossing the street in front of the truck. He stopped mid street (see image) and waved the truck on. It took a bit of convincing that, no, no matter how much he allowed it, pick-up driver was not going to drive through the red light, and guy should just finish crossing the street. Another, younger guy was with him, already on the other side. Took him a minute to realize what his friend was trying to do, and he joined in urging him to just cross. Thankfully, it's a long light, and even with the delay, he had plenty of time before our light turned green.

(Imagine this without leaves, and raining.)
Cleared the car this morning. Just a thin layer of snow, and it's already melted. Still falling, not getting any accumulation. Took the car to do a better shopping, while it's quiet there, early morning. Just have to avoid them stocking the shelves at their best time to block aisles. A large family group was entering as we left, amazed at how few people were around, compared to an aborted attempt the evening before. We giggled to ourselves. We don't usually drive there, but I needed to move the car to the garage, anyway.
Moby stretched out on my legs yesterday morning. Eleanor hopped up and sniffed him, which was fine. Then she bopped him, which wasn't. I'm not too badly scratched, but both cats got trimmed claws, to their intense displeasure. Neither intentionally scratches the naked humans, but all bets are off when we become the the boxing ring canvas. We've all forgiven each other.

The grand piano came in through our front door. Reminds me I ought to post photos.
It has happened a few times recently that I would wave a pedestrian to cross as it is obvious they have been waiting, and in all cases the pedestrian waved to me for me to continue. No matter what I did.
We've had to clear off our cars a number of times so far; we've had quite a number of days of snowfall.
Phil,
Generally, it's best to just go through and let the ped waving you past to wait. Just, not if you have a red light as the driver.
