Not that much, but the roads were slick, with lots of traffic, and I drove through it all. Got there and back fine, no personal sliding. Saw a lot of people driving too close, too fast, slipping, a near rear-ending. A truck with a plow on the front slid behind me, sideways and waggling, no doubt thought his big heavy vehicle was immune to the laws of physics.
Had to send for a full birth certificate, since my registration of birth record was not sufficient. Feeling for our president on this one. That card has been enough all my life, and now it's not. Ah, well, so many more people, so much identity fraud, perhaps a good thing to take care of now. A little worried, one of the security questions asked which of a list of street's I'd lived on, and the answer should have been, none of the above, which was not an option, nor was skipping the question. I opted for the street I'd even heard of, but never lived on.
Heard the postman much earlier than expected, sort of saw him, thought it was just the post. My head in a sort of fog, still scarfing down my tardy breakfast. So, just now, when I checked, there was no mail, only this.
Addendum: From Kathy the potter, for recommending a doctor when she injured her ankle. Which I consider simply part of my job, my training. And being a friend. I thought of her when I saw this, but couldn't imagine what she'd be thanking me for.

ok, then. thanks for the addendum. i was wondering what on earth you had tipped your postman.
so. this one time i went to the DMV to get a picture driver's license and they asked to see my picture license to get it.
then they asked for my passport.
i don't have one.
that's why i need a picture license.
your non-driver photo ID? they asked.
don't have one. here's my valid driver's license. i believe that you are by law required to accept the documents your own department issues. may i have a picture license made now?
they had a management conference and decided that in fact, the vermont DMV does have to accept its own documents.
yay.
vermont STILL issues driver's licences without pictures. it is the last state to do so.
flask,
Wow, that's some strange circular logic they got there.
Yeah, it's all the new regulations here. Hmoland Insecurity.
flask: it wasn't that long ago that Quebec started with the photo licenses.
The side roads here are still ice covered from the freezing rain that fell last weekend. It will take a serious thaw to clear it up, which appears to be scheduled for the next three days or so.
the super fun thing was that i needed a picture license so i could turn around and upgrade to an EDL, which requires a birth certificate and an interview.
i need an EDL because sometimes i go to canada.
used to be you could wander into canada accidentally. i miss those days.
flask,
Me too. I grew up visiting relatives in Ontario. For a while, a cousin was a customs officer, we'd chat at the booth on the bridge.
