So, I think what's going on is that I have what could be called a cold in my back. Which is to say, the part of a flu that manifests in body aches, and it's gone to my areas of weakness - head, back, neck, hips. I did very minimal PT this morning, rubbed and iced and heated, then just took anti-inflammatories to max doses and took a nap. This finally seems to have helped somewhat. D also had a wicked stiff neck this week and a lot of body pain. I'm thinking that just treating it like a virus, rest and drown it, give it a week, I should be better soon.
Feh.

Yes, rest!
Take good care. xo
Glad you found an approach that seems to have helped. I can empathise with both you and D — I did something to my neck yesterday while tossing a ball around with some friends. Like you, I reckon a bit of rest should see it right soon.
The word verification for this comment was "cared".

I love the portrait!
Drowning a virus sounds a great idea - good luck with it.
A good Malt whisky helps. ((z))
Good luck recuperating. Thanks for your input on my blog, your descriptions of your job here gave me focus and attention to detail when I posted.
". . . a cold in my back."
That's a good description of the flu. And "feh" says it all.
Good to hear that your self-care has helped somewhat. Sleeping is the best self-care I know of, especially when I am not feeling well enough to read.
flu viruses seem much more fierce than they used to be... we have had a succession of good'ns in our house...personally, I find a whiskey and a sleep take the edge of most symptoms
The only thing from my nursing pharmacology textbook that I remember with any enthusiasm is: "that being said, the patient probably does himself no harm drinking a hot toddy and going to bed." Now that's a policy that I wish more people lived. So, yea, for you--feel better soon.
Drowning it in orange juice and tea, I can't much abide any alcohol when at all ill.
I found this "Get well soon!" and didn't need it. Thought maybe you could use it.
