Jerked

Out of words tonight.

Acupuncture. Bringing the pain to the front of my mind again. Exercises continue. Stretches assigned so depressing, because it hurts so much to do a simple back bend. Still. And I thought I was doing... better.

Always shocking to feel like I'm making progress, then get pulled up short.

One morning, when I was in about twelve or so, I heard the alarm, got up, walked downstairs, then down to the basement. The snooze alarm went off again, and I felt torn up through the floors back to my bed, where I'd been asleep the whole time.

Like that.

While playing golf I tweaked my back. After a week of neglect the yes-I-can-just-about-sense-it pain suddenly developed into Oh-my-God pain which turned out to be sciatica which comfortably exceeded my previous yardstick for personal suffering dating back to the time I dislocated my shoulder and cracked my scapula. Gave up golf immediately, took powerful analgesics (which led to side effects I don't need to dwell on, you being a nurse), did some physiotherapy and eventually emerged into the real world. It's to prevent the return of sciatica that I swim regularly since it's a whole-body exercise which doesn't stress any one part unduly. So far (five or six years) it seems to have worked. Mind you if it returned I'd do anything to ensure it went away. I'm very sorry that's happened, and feel for you vicariously.

Are you suffering back pain? I wrestle with that periodically. I can offer up heartfelt sympathy.

Do the stretches, even though they hurt. Trust me.

I HATE the sleep thing you describe. When I'm anxious, I find that I get up and get dressed a couple of times before my alarm goes off. I wake up more tired than I was when I went to bed...

Dale,
All just life, you know.

BB,
I'd love to swim daily. Takes having a pool, though.

RtheS, tpt, rr,
Thanks.
