I remember. Even as a small child, it shocked me that my financially responsible, thrifty, mother, would not have been able to get her own credit card. Yet. That was how it was. In my lifetime.
We need, NEED and ERA. Now more than ever.
The only thing drawing me forward is that the current situation is reviving feminism. And grassroots Democracy. We are arming ourselves and resisting.
Gather round, my sisters and brothers, it's time to foment rebellion. Sharpen our wits and fill our molotov cocktails. We've fought this battle before, we know the land, we will annihilate* the bigoted idiots. We will grow from the seed, and overwhelm the authoritarian overlords. We will destroy them.
Getting a run up to this year, to whack it on the nose with a bludgeon. Or a mace.
*harder to spell that decimate, but what is really meant.

There are a lot of us getting up on our hind legs and organizing. Long may it last.
i remember having many conversations with my cousin about the complacency in north america... well, it was mostly canada that was the focus of our conversations but his point was this: having grown up in communist era poland meant that he and his friends had resistance in their veins, that they always questioned authority and sought after truth themselves. he said that life in canada was almost too easy and that it made people soft and compliant, which could be dangerous.
what i see in the US now, in light of the election, is exactly the necessary steps to wake up and realise that what you believe in might be under attack. i wish it weren't so, but it is, and it's heartening to see people all over pledging their support and protection to various minorities, and to the very concept of democracy. it will be an interesting 4 years, here's hoping we don't sleepwalk our way through it!

I'm feeling the same energy. Well, the vast majority got cheated, this doesn't go down well here.
I'm not sure how good I'm going to be at punching someone on the nose . But I can think of one or two I wouldn't mind practising on .
