Moby went out, carefully trekked through the snow to the hedge. Went in mid-leg deep, licked a paw clean of snow. Shook his paws, and gingerly retraced his steps and ran back inside. He's dozing on the heating pad.
We've made a taco feast, but snow falling heavily where Dylan's brother lives. We called them, to let them off the holiday hook. We'll be seeing them another day. Parents will be by shortly-ish. This is fine. BIL, SIL and Nephew have her big family to see, in the other direction, we don't want to be an obligation.
Having people over for holidays is good, since otherwise we tend to bang against the walls with nothing to do. Very convenient when everyone has the same day off. Other than that, I don't put importance on a DAY. Celebrations are too important to leave them up to the whims of weather and circumstance. Call it a Holiday, Birthday, Whatever, and Whiz-bang, it is one!
Obligation is anathema in my heart.
May you all have much celebration, whenever it happens.

Wishing you, Dylan and the furry ones a great Taco Feast Day!
Oh, Crow,
We had a very nice day, off work and together. What else is needed? Dylan's mom - well, it's becoming undeniable that the stroke she had a number of years ago has done lasting damage. Not obvious, but visible to those close. Tacos were appreciated, cats were appropriately sociable, roads passable.
It's good you were all able to be together, that travel on the roads was possible. Viva Tacos!
amen, sister! i despise obligation. i'm particularly pissed off by the obligatory phone calls of well wishing on a day that i'm usually busy cooking and decorating and preparing. yes, yes, i KNOW you wish me well and you really don't need to choose THIS day to inform me of this. these obligatory conversations, often in group formation over Skype, make me all sorts of stabby. just like the obligatory romantic dinner on valentine's day and such. and don't get me started on the whole christmas presents thing! at least we only do presents for the kids, and now have agreed to join forces to only do ONE per kid with the full and enthusiastic blessing of the parents who also hate the crap that gets rained down on them each year.
anyhoo, rant over. merry times to you all! stay warm and sparkling and koselig!
Hope the tacos turned out. Thanks for the well wishes.
