Drama in the sky, where it belongs. So many cow-orkers bitching about the weather that isn't their '75-85˚-and-sunny' idea of perfect. I love the storms and rain, and winds, jet streams that sculpt the atmosphere in ephemeral vapor.
Reminded of Sonny Eliot, a TV weatherman on the local news when I was a kid. Full of Henny Youngman jokes, "funny" voices and jokes about Hell Michigan freezing over, in a plaid jacket. So, I looked him up. He's still going, still doing the weather, still doing the same old schtick - but with audible dentures. I'm baffled, and slightly horrified. I mean, good for him, but there is a good reason to retire - for everyone.
Hell, if I could, I'd retire now. Get a part time job shelving books at the library.

Good weather isn't "good" without the "bad"!
What is good can change so much- they are talking about a nice sunny day here- I'm thinking that the water supplies are low, already....
Retiring somewhere beyond the top of my game and before being viewed by peers as "poor dear really should retire" is my goal. I agree with you that retirement should still mean contributing, just not at ungodly hospital hours, not to mention dreaded call. Also with you about retiring now if I could.
Now would be a great time for me to retire - could be more available to watch my kids go through life.
I relish the weather much like you do.
Retiring is a positive thing- means that you now choose what you do and when you do it, and you can do what you want!
There used to be this famous morning weather forecast presented by a guy in ridiculous jumpers on a big floating foam map of the British Isles, and every morning he'd have to jump from Great Britain to Ireland and back again. And everyone would watch hoping he'd fall in.
He still presents the weather, apparently, but in a much more normal fashion.
Moby likes sunny weather, and get very worried with storms. But we don't know all his history, he may well have a good reason.
Helen Thomas is probably wishing she'd retired a few years ago. We all need to know when to say when.
mbick,
My hours are pretty reasonable, but they still feel onerous at times.
Phil,
Could be why grandparents make such good connections with their grandchildren.
Pacian,
Still, I miss decent weather forecasters, even flamboyant ones.
gz,
These days, it's also a matter of having the means.
