Ascendence

Our Sunday walk to the Library, on the most gorgeous of days. Rain in the morning, dramatic clouds and a breeze and mild warmth, more rain promising. So, we ascended to the Library roof garden, full of swaying grasses and little trees, to take in the geography of this city in a former lake bed.

If you cared about the 2002 Olympics, the stadium is visible in this one. If you don't care, it's still there.

Any idea what species of bird this is? Pretty, in a very plain way.

Wow, those clouds. Bird is a juvie European Starling. Nuisance as they may be, they're still one of my favorite birds.

Starlings don't get no love, that's for sure.

Those top clouds look intestinal.

Love the clouds, and the mountains, I could look at these pictures and take in the scenery for a long time.

The SLC landscape is beautiful, Zhoen - those beautiful mountains.

I like the starlings in their winter dress, all those bright speckles on the dark background. I don't like the way they elbow all the other birds away from the feeders, though.

Jess,
Well, I like a lot of weeds, so it would figure I'd like the pest bird, too.

Pacian,
That took guts.

trou,
On days like that one, even after years, my gaze is engaged.

Sky,
Lovely, but a city in a bowl always has smog issues, like LA, Denver, Mexico City...

Crow,
Yeah. I like the Mockingbirds too, but they are bossy as well. Survivors.
