Blindness 1/100

Hundreds of dime sized tomatoes. Some frozen. Many already eaten

Brought to work, given to neighbors. Some dropped while picking.

Most from just one plant, sprawling, generous, eager. Such pleasure.

Such bounty. A puppy of a plant, eager and happy.

Pouring out everything in one season, one whole rich lifetime.

Moby went out, he's going blind, and misses the step,

Keeps going. Stretches out near the catnip, sunning himself.

Moves to return, mews in his hoarse voice, looks exactly

Like a panic attack, can't focus on my voice, pick

him up bring him in, calm him down. Fine now.

I was astounded at the output of teeny cherry tomatoes from our bushes last year. So cheerful.
Sorry for the hard days, noble Moby. I'm glad he gets to lie in the sun.

Comes to us all, eventually. I can empathize with the cat. Wonder what heredity/genetic coping response they have, is it like ours, some of us just knowing the end is coming, or something we think deeper, like religion, afterlife, stuff like that. Myself, I don't think oblivion will be that bad, but how will I know. Makes me snicker to myself sometimes.
Cheers, from what I read you are a damn fine nurse. Would have been glad to work with you.

Nimble,
He is easily startled, walks so cautiously, casts about looking for... whatever he's looking for. We try to interpret, tell him where the food is, put him on favorite chairs.

Should,
He could well live more years yet. We just treasure every day with him. I'm happy to simply merge with the infinite when my body stops.

I try to be a good nurse, I really do.

I'm with you on merging with the infinite.

Sad to hear about Moby. No amount of philosophising or serene buddhist acceptance or wise words etc etc can take away that kind of sadness, nor should it. He's been so much a part of my visits here that the sadness feels personal. Please give him some extra attention and tell him it's from me.

This is so heartfelt. It's a difficult time watching your cat during this stages. I knew the time had come when one of my cats refused to be comforted and instead searched for distant hiding places.
Enjoy every day Moby gives you.

I adore your tomatoes!!!

Gentle,
Yeah. Only way that makes any sense to me.

Pete,
He purred. He's also a bird watcher. Thank you. He could well go on a good long time. He's not generally in any distress, just when he can't find what he wants.

Sabine,
We have always treasured Moby, and always will. Such a good friend to us. Getting a vet to see him at home, and see if there is anything we can do to make him feel better.
