Prettiness

All young and pretty. They'll get more individual and interesting in time.

"There's a truck behind me."

Yup, one of several that came to restore power, out for nearly five hours this afternoon. Stayed fairly cool in here. I got home early, kinda wish I'd stayed in the cold OR. Happened on Sunday night, too. Loud BOOM! and then silence. Out for several hours then. Unusual for this area, I gotta wonder if the big new shiny apartment buildings are stressing the system, AC spike as the heat sets in.

Interesting item over on IO9 about the confederate flag. One of the few sites where I will read the exceptionally well moderated comment section. Fear and ignorance, as usual. The great enemies of humanity.

A-ha! The io9 article talks about "what social psychologists call Terror Management Theory, or TMT"--this fits into my puzzlement about why people think global climate change is a conspiracy:
Thanks for that link!

First, thanks for the talking sunflower. First laugh of the day.

Secondly, that you so much for the link. I've argued with family members still living in the South that the flag is a symbol of intimidation and racial hate, else why would it be carried by so many hate groups. It symbolizes for me that despite the end of the civil war and efforts to reunite our nation, we remain a nation divided. That was a great article, Zhoen. Thanks for pointing it out.

Crow,
The young sunflowers are just airheads at the moment. I'm sure I'll get a chorus and a not of snark soon.

The whole "Heritage" excuse has always baffled me. None so blind as those who will not see.

Do you think that we find sunflowers pretty just at face value, or are we projecting feelings about summer and sunshine into the mix?

er,
They do look like faces...
