One of those perfect spring days, the breeze cool, the sun warm, everything vibrantly green and lush. The crowd at the local festival at the City County Building in mellow mood.
Next to the Library, which has a fine collection of quotations all over it. This is outside the front entrance, the slope down to the windows of the acquisition areas. This is where D works. I have always thought the architects got the contract the moment they proposed that all staff areas would have natural light. The old library building didn't have windows in the second level at all. One of the staff meeting rooms was an internal, cinder block cell with the worst kind of florescent lighting. The new City Library is infused with light everywhere.
I've seen more and more bikes like this around. This one is the most cobbled together. I suppose the ability to see over traffic has some evolutionary advantage.

I am gobsmacked (in a good way) by that bike. Wow.
I want one of those bikes! Doubt that I could steer it very well, but what fun to try!
:)
There are several versions of these around.
Now, I always wanted to see if I could ride a unicycle.
Like everyone else, I am struck by that cobbled bike. Getting about on a bike requires a sort of bravery that I seem to have surrendered to age. But I venture that whoever rides this bike has that sort of bravery in spades.
To clarify somewhat, I meant getting about in a city filled with cars driven by some folks who act as though bicyclists are targets for their rage. Maybe it's just drivers in this spot of the southeastern US.
mbick,
Anyplace with a lot of cars is hard on bicyclists. In a very uneven match.
Odd bicycle.
I own and know how to ride a unicycle, though not particularly well - I can ride from point A to point B but am unable to stay in one spot, wheeling back and forth to keep my balance. Someday I will attempt to improve my skill, maybe.
