Phil, I take each child as a person on their own merits. I just don't find them appealing JUST because they are children. Children as a group are generally less cute to me, unpredictable and annoying. Any individual child can saunter past that initial preference.
Mouse, I've been right there, and having a small happy greeting would be wonderful. Amazing how many didn't as well.
zhoen: I'm the same in reference to people calling anything small, cute. Not all small things are cute, and even some cute things that are small, are not cute.

I suppose in moments like that it isn't so bad when all you have to commit to is waving back.
That made me smile, mostly to see those strangers smile and wave back
Didn't they all look different when they relaxed and called 'Bye' in return?
