Now is the time to make circles with mints. Do not haste any longer.

Fortune cookies are probably Japanese, possibly invented in San Franciso. Certainly difficult to make- labor intensive.

Circles with mints?

Best fortune I ever got. A mystery. cool.

One of these years we'll get together to make a batch or five. A few with fortunes, even.

I once had a fortune that said something along the lines of "Lots of air comes from an empty cave." Another was amusingly specific: "You will be married within a year." Thank god I didn't.

M,
And we will get ' the guys' to make the fortunes.
Subject to our editorian approval.

Now that would be interesting. I shall submit the idea at once to C; he can come up with preliminary phrases. It's sure to be entertaining.

Ideas submitted thus far:

"Your BASIC program is an endless loop."
"Your future is assured."
"Look out!"
"Help! I'm trapped in a fortune factory!"
"This makes no sense."
"Eat me."
"The secret to happiness is: Neve" (runs off end of paper)
"What are YOU looking at?"
"This fortune intentionally left blank." (my personal favorite)
"Once there was The End."
"Needs more salt."
"Don't eat me."
"This fortune is not for you."

Are they dinner mints? Or?

zhoenw, thanks for your visit! I've been enjoying your essays for a while now. Very much.

Well, I got it at lunch, so I assume lunch mints. At a place called Wok 'n Roll. So, well, that is irrelevant, but they have killer hot 'n sour soup.

You honor me, thank you.

I just got that fortune too. Searched using google and found your blog. Hi!

In China there is an activity that involves making necklaces using mint leaves and stems. This takes time AND makes a strongly scented adornment. How perfect.

Huh. Well, alright then. I shall try to find references for this. Thank you.

A friend of mine just got the same fortune, and my husband poked around the web.

In Mongolian coins, a circle of mint with mint was a decorative device. See
http://mongoliancoins.com/coins_of_mongol_empire_chakhatayid.php?pageNum_rsGreatMongolKhagans=2&totalRows_rsGreatMongolKhagans=65

For example, scroll down to coin 023BAD0010 "CHAGHATAYIDS/BADAKHSHA RULER"

Note also that if you Google the entire fortune " Now is the time to make circles with mints, do not haste any longer", you get 61 hits. Many people have received this fortune and no one knows what it means. Googling just the phrase "circles with mints" gets you 261 hits.
