Research

I gaze in awe at the beauty of my garden. I sowed love, with effort and intention and persistence, and a lot of research, and up came life. Have to keep reminding myself, as the crocuses and little irises long dropped, and the purple and white showy irises and alliums fade, that there are more poppies to come, and the bergamot and sunflowers are to come, and the lamb's tongue has yet to flower (does this take a few years?) and the Hummingbird Trumpet is for Autumn.

Patience, and acceptance.

Thinking I will need a walkway through the mass of vegetation. A plan for next year, keeping this in mind for the summer yard sale season...

What ruffled beauty! What heart-thrilling back-lit lush color!

I await your irises each year, as well. So glad you found and planted them, Z!

Crow,
It was luck, mostly. I had no idea how dark they would be, and I've never seen the bulbs again. I really need to dig them up and spread them around a bit. I'm anxious about doing that and ruining them...

I know there is a way to separating the rhizhomes, but I don't know how, either. A friend gave me a couple of plants culled from her garden a few years ago. She simply said to cut them apart, plant and water them and they would do just fine.

Or, maybe not, as in my case. I did cut them apart evenly between the leaf nodes, planted them in good soil, watered regularly. For the last three years, beautiful spear-shaped leaves have reached for the sky (taller every spring), but no blossoms yet.

Maybe this year...I hope. In the meantime, I will visit here when I succumb to iris-envy and dream of blossoms of my own.

Crow,

It's a mystery, what will grow, what languishes.

That deep colour is beautiful.
Long may your garden bloom!

Nature has the best colours. What a gorgeous deep purple.

Z ... I heard somewhere that the iris bulbs need to be planted (or re-planted) in groups of three to thrive.

Beautiful!!

gz,
Living color, complex translucence.

Sabine,
Delightful, ain't it?

Rou,
I read that yesterday in my researching, yes. They like company! I will keep that in mind, and plan to do that in late July.
