Felix
Hard to believe it's been a whole week since my last foray to the feline colony. We had a huge influx of cats, mostly those screened and well enough to be adopted after a hoarder seizure of sixty animals. Some of our longer held cats were euthanized to make space. With kitten season upon us, that will happen more often, especially in this economy. Some of the Cult Cats will make good housecats, some probably will not, but Laura brushed and socialized, and I socialized and brushed a little.
No dog folks to get the bigger dogs to the outdoor kennels, so I tried to do it alone. Wound up dragged to the floor by one strong and untrained dog, leaving me with a bruised hand and knee. So, I got five dogs out, then back in, on this lovely spring day. I feel bad about this, but I did what I could. They wore me out.
Mostly, I gave some cats some sense of safety and love. Not a bad accounting for myself for today.

One of the newbies, very interesting vocalizations. I thought, "I'll call you Speak, because you do!" But she turned out to be Juliet.

Mimi is just a fluffball, a little feisty, and although you can't see here, an intelligent face.

Alfredo. A charmer, a lover, very suave.

Minty, another newbie, so tiny.

And Bork, who went home with a family who was told he was not good with other cats, and "whoa nellie" he wasn't good with their cat, so they brought him back. Well, at least they did bring him back. Gorgeous pattern, grey blue eyes, lap cat utterly, just happens to be the only cat in the universe.
This is why we only have Moby, because he is the Sole Cat of the Universe, and that's ok by us.

How big is this palce Z? Does Moby notice any new cat scents on you when you get home?
H,
About 45-50 cat cages, another dozen or so in the cages in the lobby and in the cat colony (estimate.) And some more in foster homes. Maybe 30 small dog cages, another 20 large dog kennels - all those double occupancy. There is also an intake area, and a clinic, and an investigations building. The volunteers only go to the Adoptions area.
When I get home, I wash everything immediately, and Moby's confused that I don't immediately pick him up, but go shower first. Don't want to bring home any viruses. He doesn't seem to notice any smells.
Such a waste of time when people won't be told by those who have assessed the animals. It happens so frequently. Prospective owners are told specifically that a dog is not cat-safe, and then return it when that is proven, yet again, to be so.
Hope the bruising will be better soon.
Whatever happens to our souls at the end of our lives (and I have no clue), there has to be a special, a sacred place for souls such as yours for the care you give to others, human and the other creatures alike.
Crow, Crow, Crow,
I'm no saint for this, and that idea makes me very uncomfortable. To the point that I hesitate to report my Cat days. So, any other deification comments will henceforth be deleted quietly. Or I can stop with the cat photos.
RR,
Can't bend my knee this morning. But I have a bunch of ortho specialists that I can get to informally check out the offending joint today.
You have been selected for the Honest Weblog award. (I'm sorry, Zhoen. I posted the awards before I read your comment.)
I don't think you are saintly, Zhoen, for what you do, just a good, caring soul. Guess I have encountered so few of them in my life is the reason why I made the comment I did. I'll not not say so again. Please do continue posting the cat pictures. They are a joy to see.
Crow,
I'm not mad, just not at all comfortable with such praise for something that gives back to me far more than I give to them.
My wife when we first acquired Leo was pretty insistent on getting Leo a playmate. I was rather adamant that Leo would become a sole universe cat whether he was one or not.
